Being single

To all my singles friends: know that #1 God loves you and #2 He is aware of you. As long as you know those 2 things then being single will be alright. ♥️   It’s hard when everyone around you is married, or they’re married with children, or just got engaged, or they’re in a relationship. You may think what is wrong with me? Why am I not dating? Or whatever the case is. You ask yourself all the questions leading back to why? Did God forget about me? Does He even care?  Well, my dear friends. I can testify that He does. He has an amazing plan for YOU. And you being single right now is part of that plan. Whether you think so or not. He knows your hopes, your dreams, and what YOU want out of life. He hears your prayers and He wants you to be happy, because in this life we are meant to have JOY! It doesn’t say we can have joy occasionally, or when the time is right, but we are meant to have it.  Ask yourself some of these questions: what are you doing to develop yo...

Insecurities

Hi my name is Lyssa. I'm 24, 5'9 ish, I'm curvy, definitely by no means "skinny", I have broad shoulders, sausage fingers that I got from my dad, and sometimes I have really low self confidence and self esteem. But you know what? That's me! I've grown to love my curves and be happy in my own skin. I've grown to love my broad shoulders. Not only do they help me to be strong but I wouldn't be complete without them. And my sausage fingers? Yes please! Those hands and fingers of mine have been through some hard times, and have seen so much.   The times I've been down in the dumps with confidence so low, I've been able to rise up and become more confident in me! In myself. In this beautiful amazing body that my Heavenly Father has given me. And guess what? Through the atonement of Jesus Christ I've been able to catch a glimpse of myself the way Heavenly Father sees me, and guys, that is something that I wish all of us could have and t...

A string of fortunate events :)

As I sit and think of the day's events my day replays in my head. I think of the people I've met, the opportunities I've had for service, and the things I was able to accomplish. There were the ups and the downs, good things and the bad things, things that didn't go as "planned", but I am filled with joy and gratitude. No my life isn't perfect. It's definitely not turned out the way I have wanted it to. But I'm so glad!! I am glad that Heavenly Father knows ME and he knows my heart. He knows what will make me the most happy and what will bring me the most joy. He knows the past present and future! He knows what is going to happen today and tomorrow. He has a perfect plan for ME! I am definitely not perfect at trusting Him, nor will I ever be, but that's ok! It's the here a little there a little, precept upon precept principle that is going to get me where I need to go. Because of His Son Jesus Christ, I am able to be forgiven of my sins ...

Ch ch ch changes

Some things are just bound to come to an end. You've put in your time, developed your skills and mastered them, worked on your confidence, grown in all the ways possible, and the time comes for a change. It's bittersweet that I've decided to leave Deseret Book. "There's no comfort in growth and there's no growth in comfort". Words to live by! I've definitely been comfortable in the LDS retail environment. I've had 5+ years of experience! Haha but the Lord knew I needed to grow more in ways that I've never even thought of. The experiences and the dear friends that I've had over the last 2.5 years will be ones that I'll treasure forever! You are all amazing! And I'm so thankful for YOU ALL. You've been my family, my cheer team, and my trusted friends. ♥️ It's not goodbye, just see you later! Change is good! It helps us grow into the people that Heavenly Father wants us to become. And learn the things we need to learn! "Th...

Trials

There have been so many times in my life where I have been confused and have asked myself the question why is this happening? The memories that flood my mind are ones of agony, despair, frustration, regret, and betrayal. I play in my head over and over again the different scenarios that brought me to that point. In some cases wondering what I did wrong and if I was the cause. The hurt inside me floods out through my eyes that progressively turn into sobs. I'm broken. I'm inconsolable. I'm weak.  But then, like the light at the end of the deep and dark train tunnel, I see a glimmer of light. Of hope, and of peace. It's as almost if Heavenly Father and His Son, my Savior, Jesus Christ are standing right there. Their arms outstretched and their loving embrace is right there just waiting for me. Me, the one who needs it right there and then. All my worries and my fears dissipate and I immediately feel relief. A sense of peace and calmness wash over me and I become ...

Timing

I've been thinking a lot about timing lately and this quote popped into my head this morning by Elder Oaks. "In all the important decisions in our lives, what is most important is to do the right thing. Second, and only slightly behind the first, is to do the right thing at the right time." Sometimes I don't want to make the wrong choice. I stress and worry about some of the "what if's". I don't want to mess up! I've come to a realization though, that making those wrong choices and even the right ones that are hard are all part of the plan. They let us use our agency and we grow so much! We are able to become better sons and daughters that our Heavenly Father wants us to become. Trusting Him is hard sometimes, but I know that we are never alone. He's waiting to bless us! Those choices and decisions determine our destiny! ♥️ #TRUSTHim #CTR #RTC #justkeepswimming #beworthyoftheholyghost

You are not alone in your struggles.

This month was pretty hard. I started a second job and I also ended that second job. From having food poisoning for three weeks to finally feeling better for a few days after and then going right into a stomach bug virus a couple days later, life couldn't get any worse. It was pretty terrible. After enduring the worst flu bug on the face of the earth (or so it seemed) on and off for 12 hours, over the course of throwing up about 9 times and feeling as if I was going to die. I wondered if I could do it. With my bucket in hand, I made it to my car. Which was a miracle in and of itself! I feel like I was in a trance the whole way home. With the AC blowing at the top notch and lots of deep breath's and prayers I finally arrived into Brigham City.   As I was on Main Street coming up towards the light across the street from the temple this scripture D&C 121:7-9 popped into my head. When Joseph is in Liberty jail struggling hard core with everything you can imagine....
