Being willing to go where God wants me to go:

In my life as of late, I have been thinking of the lyrics to the well known hymn “I’ll go where you want me to go”. The first verse says:

But if, by a still, small voice he calls

To paths that I do not know,

I’ll answer, dear Lord, with my hand in thine:

I’ll go where you want me to go.

[Chorus]

I’ll go where you want me to go, dear Lord,

Over mountain or plain or sea;

I’ll say what you want me to say, dear Lord;

I’ll be what you want me to be.

The conversation we have with God might sound something like this: ‘Heavenly Father, it’s me. I’ve been thinking a lot and I’ll go where you want me to go..... but I’m NOT going there. (Then we continue to give God stipulations..) I’ll do what you want me to do... but I’m NOT doing that....But Heavenly Father help me to grow and guide me to where I should be, and help me become the person you want me to become... and on and on. But so often we aren’t willing to take the jump and go places where we are uncomfortable. 😜 We love our comfort. Our safe place. But..!

News flash! Life doesn’t work like this!

We can’t tell Heavenly Father, the one who sees the end from the beginning, the one who is all knowing, and the one who has a PERFECT plan for each of his children, what to do, how to do it and when we want it. Because if we do that, we won’t become the person we need to be. We won’t learn what we’re supposed to learn. We won’t grow, which is the WHOLE point.

Dieter F. Utchdorf said: “My young friends, today I say to you that if you trust the Lord and obey Him, His hand shall be over you, He will help you achieve the great potential He sees in you, and He will help you to see the end from the beginning.”

So my challenge to all of you, and the one I remind myself of daily, is to be brave. Take that leap (or jump) of faith. Be courageous! Admit that you don’t know everything and rely on God more. We NEED Him!

Moving forward is SCARY! Change is scary. 😱 There are a lot of unknowns, feelings of fear, and the fact that you feel like you’re the blind leading the blind. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Sometimes you might not know where you are going or what God has in mind for you. But keep walking. Keep taking those small steps into the unknown.

Nelson Mandela said: “Courage is not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear."

Take comfort in knowing that God will go before your face. (D&C 84:88) He will prepare a way for you! He will guide and direct your path and all of this comes in His timing!

Be patient, don’t wish you were somewhere other than where you are, TRUST in God and His plan for you, and enjoy the journey!! ♥️
