Remember who you are!

Remember who you are ☺️♥️

I had a pretty neat conversation with a sweet co worker of mine the other day. She was giving a relief society lesson on knowing that you are a child of god and she wanted to talk to me about it and get my opinion. We bounced some ideas around and both testified of just that. That YOU and I are children of God. Here, both of us were, crying outside the parking lot of Olive Garden in 90 something degree weather- bearing our souls. 😅We also talked about how we are so blessed to have met each other and how much our Heavenly Father knew we needed each other in our lives. He often does that, so that we can help lift each other up. Because isn’t that the point of this life? Helping each other?

Sometimes we forget WHO WE ARE and who’s child we are. We are God’s children. Do you ever just stop and think of how amazing that is? He LOVES us so much. Do you believe that? We all were sent here to earth with our own packages and trails. God gave us talents, gifts, family, and friends to help us while we’re here. He also sent His Son, our brother Jesus Christ to atone for my sins and for yours. Because of Him we can overcome trials. Because of Him, we can see our loved ones again. Because of Him we can REMEMBER who we are. We can change and become better.

From the talk entitled “Am I a child of god” by Elder Brian K. Taylor in April 2018 GC, he said: President Boyd K. Packer’s words are plain and precious: “You are a child of God. He is the father of your spirit. Spiritually you are of noble birth, the offspring of the King of Heaven. Fix that truth in your mind and hold to it. However many generations in your mortal ancestry, no matter what race or people you represent, the pedigree of your spirit can be written on a single line. You are a child of God!”

How often do we FORGET that we are His child? How often do we stop and think just what being His child means? Again I ask, do you believe that? Knowing that we are children of God is something that, if you let it, can change your life. Remembering who YOU are and why you are here. You and I were sent here for a specific purpose and reason. Do you know what that reason and purpose is?

I was in a seminary class listening to the teacher and something he said really stuck out to me. He asked us some questions  like why are you on this earth? Because you are on a mission for god! Why are you in the calling that you are? Because you are on a mission for god! Why is life hard, did you really choose this? Yes- because you are on a mission for god! Every single question you can answer, comes back to you being on a mission for god!

In the words of Mufasa from the Lion King, he says “Simba.”

Simba: Father?

Mufasa: Simba, you have forgotten me.

Simba: No! How could I?

Mufasa: You have forgotten who you are, and so forgotten me. Look inside yourself, Simba. You are more than what you have become.

Simba: How can I go back? I’m not who I used to be.

Mufasa: Remember who you are. You are my son, and the one true king. Remember who you are.

Maybe it’s cheesy and strange to relate this to the lion king of all things, but so often WE FORGET who we are. We forget our mission and our purpose. Life happens and we forget. Brothers and sisters, we mustn’t forget!! God knows YOU. He loves YOU. YOU are His child. A child of noble and royal birth. What are you going to do with this knowledge? How are you going to let this change you and your life? How are you going to let Him change you? Questions that I hope you ask yourself. Remember, you are loved, you are cared for, and the price for you is already paid for. ♥️
